How do Spyware, Adware and Viruses affect my PC

My aim with this article is to give people a brief description and point out some differences between Viruses, Spyware and Adware.

Spyware

Spyware is a malicious software that will not necessarily damage your PC. Basically Spyware creates pathways allowing a third party which does not include you the PC owner to remotely communicate with the infected PC.
Basically spyware records and tracks websites which you have visited, saves this info and forwards it to the developer who then sells your info to third parties.
Spyware is rampant on the internet and you should take precausions whenever you logon to unverified websites. a reduction in performance].

Spyware have their own individual executable programs which gives them the ability to record your keystrokes, scan files on your hard drive and record which applications you use, including but not restricted to forums, cookies and Web browser settings.
Data which is stolen from your hard drive will be forwarded to the spywares original source, then this data is typically sold to advertisers and junkmail directories.

Adware

In comparison Adware is a devious form of freeware. Spyware gathers personal information from your PC, while Adware can be hidden in a program you downloaded, once installed it can play havoc with your computer.
Adware on the other hand finds it's way into sectors of your hard drive which are more vulnerable to attacks.
Clear evidence of spyware infections include unwanted pop-ups, a reduction in your computers operating speed and erroneous error messages.
Once adware has installed itself on your computer it slows down your operating system, it achieves this by overloading main communication pathways and creating bottlenecks at various points on your hard drive.

Viruses

Meanwhile, viruses are the most feared and destructive forms of  malicious software.
Their sole purpose is to cause numerous problems, error messages and reduce the performance of your computer. They infect as many files, folders and registry entries of your PC's operating system or network as possible by initiating self replication sequences.

Luckily there are very good anti virus programs available to prevent amy infections on your PC, the better programs also scan your system for adware and spyware, if detected action will be taken to nutralize them.
Some programs are dedicated to find, remove and destroy spyware and adware programs. They all have the same purpose with different chances of success, hard drive scans and malicious software removal is standard. Any errors detected in your registry file and other crucial areas on your hard drive will be nutralized.

Conclusion

I recommend that you frequently update your pathogen or spyware scanner to make sure that your personal computer is protected from the thousands of spyware and viruses lurking on the web. If you are downloading anything from the internet be aware that your chances of being the victim of attacks on your PC goes up dramatically.
Make sure you have your built in firewall, and popup blocker enabled, this will drastically reduce the chanses that your PC becomes infected.
